Style, Stillness, and Shaking Things Up

It's been a while since I wrote a post dedicated to style, life updates, etc so here we go! First, I want to say thank you readers for taking the time to read my blog post and visit my little space on the internet. I love sharing style, family moments, and discussing/reflecting on things I have learned while navigating through life as an individual, wife and mother. Speaking of motherhood, my son recently turned one so I will definitely dedicate a blog post to that cause mama has had quite a year! Lastly, unless stated otherwise most photos on this blog are taken by my husband because we're a team so thanks for supporting my endeavor!
I started this blog as a place to share my style and while I talk about mush more than style, I love a good style moment. I got this coat from Asos a few years ago and I love that it is now cold enough in Jersey to wear it. As much I have hate that the temperatures are dropping, I love fall/winter outwear! My leather boots were a total steal from Nine West! I got them on sale for under $30 and they are so comfortable.
This is the outfit I wore to church a couple weeks ago and as you can see, my dress and boots are simple so I added an element of drama with my jacket. It feels really good to be talking style because sometimes motherhood takes over my social media and while I enjoy being a mother and sharing moments with my child on the internet, I also enjoy having moments that have nothing to do with my child.
I’ve been on the go a lot over the past year between working full time, taking care of my child and running a household with my husband. There is always something that needs to be done and it seems like there are never enough hours in the day to do it all!
I was talking to my mom this morning and telling her that even though I have this day off, I feel like I have so much to do and need at least two days off (with the baby at daycare) to do everything I want. But before she respond I said, “Well, I guess that’s being a mother and wife. There is always something that needs to be done.” My mom responded by affirming that and telling me to enjoy this day and sit down! So I’ve been spending time on the couch today writing this blog post and others and doing whatever my body tells me to do, which is be still because I don’t need to be a superwoman all the time, I just need to be Ashley.
Shaking things up:
I feel a shift taking place in my life. I’ve been spending more time in God’s word, the Bible. Being more sincere and intentional with my prayers and feeling downright uncomfortable and overlooked with a situation I’ve been dealing with. So I’ve been taking the necessary steps to create the change I so desperately need. I’m more conscious about the way I think, the way I speak to myself and others and my connection with God. I’ve realized that the more time I spend reading the Bible and talking to God, the more He reveals to me. All I want to do is walk in God’s will for my life, because when you live in alignment with God’s will, nothing can block the blessing He has for you!
