Sleeveless Coat

Hello! I hope you had a beautiful weekend. The weather was nice here in New Jersey so I took advantage of it and spent a lot of time outside. I was looking for an affordable sleeveless coat all winter, but could not find one within my budget. However, I was reading one of my favorite blogs (mirrorme.me) last month and saw that Fisayo posted a link to this sleeveless coat. I immediately knew I had to have it ('cause nothing haunts you like the things you wish you bought but didn't). Three weeks later, it arrived! This coat has instantly become one of my favorite outwear pieces and I plan to get a few more wears out of it before the weather gets too warm. However, you can expect to see me in this sleeveless coat frequently when fall arrives.

I wear a lot of neutrals, and black is my absolute favorite because of its versatility. However, I sometimes like to offset my otherwise all black looks with a color or two. This weekend, I chose to pair my black outfit with a camel sleeveless coat. I spent a lot of time running around and this was an easy and comfortable outfit. My weekend was also busy because I spent time shooting for a new project that I'm working on with on with my friend Kia. I can't wait to share more with you when the details are finalized, so stay tuned! In the mean time, here's a sneak peak of our shoot together:

Hey everyone! I know its been a while since I did a personal style post, but sometimes life gets in the way. I'm a senior in college juggling a lot right now, but thank God graduation is around the corner! Anyway, I wore this look over spring break on a beautiful and cold breezy day. As you can see in one of the pictures, the wind was trying to undress me lol.

Soooo let me tell you about this dress. I saw it circulating on a few blogs and Instagram last year and knew I needed it in my life! One day my best friend, Dana and I were enjoying some girl time in H&M when I stumbled upon this beauty that happened to be on sale (I love a good discount). As you can imagine, I raced to the fitting room to try it on and as much as I loved the dress, I couldn't decide whether to buy it or leave it because I wasn't 100% sold on the fit. However, Dana convinced me to buy it and I'm so glad I did! I wen't home, tried on the dress again and I've been in love ever since.

Kate Spade Spring Accessories

Some of the cutest and creative accessories I have ever seen are designed by Kate Spade. Their spring pieces ooze femininity and fun. When I first saw the watering can clutch in one of their advertisements, I actually thought it was a real watering can lol. These pieces are definitely for the accessory lovers and women who love to have fun with their style!

Lazy Sunday

I hope you had a great weekend! I wore this turban on sunday because I didn't feel like doing my hair and wanted to still look cute and comfortable. Sundays are all about staying as comfortable as possible for me, hence the name of this post. I used a scarf from h&m for my head wrap.

New Balance 620 for J.Crew

Both J. Crew and New Balance are known for their great quality and style so I was pleased when I came across their 620 Sneaker collaboration. These sneakers are both sleek and stylish and will make the perfect addition to any women's wardrobe. At $80, they are also relatively affordable. With that being said, I've added the Persimmon Navy and Gold Salt color ways to my wishlist in case I decide to treat myself one of these days!

Why I choose to Smile

This is a candid moment capturing me engaged in one of my greatest joys, laughter. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a happy person who smiles a lot. I don't smile because life is perfect,  my life is far from perfect. I smile because it makes me feel good and I believe in surrounding myself with people who make me smile regularly. I smile because God has blessed me, and while I face difficult times, I know that He will see me through.

My future seems uncertain right now. I'm in my last semester of college and I still haven't found a full-time job. Sometimes I get stressed when I think about my situation. However, I am not worried because I firmly believe that everything will work out in my favor. Patience produces perseverance, and perseverance produces character. Therefore, I am persevering in my job search and growing stronger because I refuse to be defeated.

If you're facing some challenges, I want to encourage you to find a reason to be happy and smile. Perseverance and hard work produce successful results. Remember that hard times don't last always. Trust your process and allow yourself to grow. Anything that allows you to grow will challenge you.

There is no success without struggle.

My Crown

I think all  of us women have days where we don't feel beautiful. I was having one of those days recently when my hair wasn't cooperating. I had a great vision for my hair: I washed it, twisted it, and attempted to style it into an up-do, but it wasn't working! I got really frustrated because I had a hairstyle that could not be salvaged. Then I decided to get creative and twisted some fabric head wrap. I used three pieces of Ankara Fabric that I purchased at an African market in Harlem over the summer. I felt like a queen in this head wrap!
