Dress-H&M | Shoes-Aldo and on sale at Asos
Blend in for what! I love shooting my outfits against colorful backdrops around the neighborhood, but sometimes color looks best against something simple like these bright white walls. I was drawn to this dress because of the colors and comfort. I love comfortable stylish clothes and I know I'll wear this dress for years to come. When I saw these pink platforms on Asos, I immediately thought of wearing them with this dress to highlight the pink stripes. The great thing about platforms is that no matter how high they are, they're almost always comfortable. These shoes are high but they are one of the most comfortable pairs of heels I own.
Speaking of heels let's talk about the journey that is life and stepping to new heights. One of the things I've learned over the past year is that many people may assist you on your journey, but few will arrive at your destination (s) with you. Some only want to build you up if it's for for their benefit. Be mindful of who you allow to water your seeds.
You are precious, your mind is precious, and your time is precious. Whether you realize it or not, the people you surround yourself with influence you. There are people who want to see you excel, pursue your goals and live an abundant life. These people will encourage you, challenge you to grow beyond the limits you have placed on yourself, and be an uplifting presence in your life. However, there are also people who only want bear to witness to your growth as long they can reap the benefits. They will teach you skills to succeed, push you out of your comfort zone, and may encourage you to reach for new heights as long as you never stand taller than them. People like this want you to spread your wings to expand their reach but feel offended the moment you desire to fly. So be cognizant of the energy around you. Be careful about who you share your dreams and goals with; those people will either lift you up and help you soar or keep you trapped on the ground. If you're ready to spread your wings, but feel like the influences around you are making you stagnant, it may be time to change your environment.
One thing I have learned along the way is that many people wasted their time doing things that didn't lead them to where they wanted to be in life. Sure, some of those people got to live out their desires because they remembered why they started their journey of purpose and fulfillment. However, they would have arrived at their destinations a lot faster and smoother if they stopped wasting time serving things and people that didn't value them or helped them get to where they wanted to be. Let's not waste our youth fulfilling someone else's dream for our lives if that dream is not in alignment with our dreams. You know that saying that says "youth is wasted on the young"? I never truly understood it until now. Don't waste your time on things that don't matter to you. Build a life that is fulfilling to you and God. Remember, if you ever begin to feel stagnant, remove the things that are weighing your wings down so you can fly!
