The #sixohnineproject

Hey everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. My past week was eventful from start to finish. As you know, I took a quick trip to England and came back on Friday. The first event I attended after arriving back in New Jersey was the Six Oh Nine Project.
The Six Oh Nine Project was an exhibition curated by S.Bola Okoya (left) and Albert Matlock (right) in Tenton, NJ (In case you're wondering, 609 is the area code for Trenton, NJ). The artwork and garments displayed at the exhibition depicted the theme of city life. I know both men from college and have long admired their work so I had to support my fellow TCNJ alums. I think Bola and Albert did a great job of showcasing work that was both visually appealing and told stories of urban life.
Unfortunately, I had to leave the event before the toast. Congratulations to Albert and Bola on the success of your exhibit! I know you two have a lot more art to share with the world in the future and I look forward to seeing it. Special thanks to my photographer, Alfred, for capturing and sharing the pictures from the event. It was a great time.
You can see more photos from the event on Instagram by typing in #sixohnineproject in the search bar.
You know I love the street art in Trenton, so I decided to snap my outfit in front of some of the art.
Oh, and I got to spend time with my sister friend Kia! If you follow me on instagram, you know that Kia and I like to get dressed and go places together. Feel free to follow our style adventures on instagram: @hstylesquared and hstylesquared.tumblr.com

Jeans (extremely old)-South Pole (yes, I've had these jeans  for years)
Necklace-Zara

What I wore: I must admit I threw this outfit together at the last minute. I actually, thought about my outfit earlier during the day so that I would not have to rush to find something to wear when I got home. However. when I put on the pants I intended to wear, they were too tight! So, I tried on a pair and shorts, and they were also too tight! Basically, I gained a few pounds over the last few weeks (I completely blame the stress of the end of the semesters and studying for my finals exams). Needless to say, I threw together an outfit that will never let me down: all black everything, well almost. I decided to enliven my look with a statement necklace. My top was purchased during my trip to England and sure came in handy!
